How to get to Palermo


You can reach the city center in less then 40 mins. The train leaves from the basement floor in the airport and gets to the Central Station (Stazione Centrale in italian) - this is quite a convenient stop for getting around the city center.
By Airplane




Once you land in Falcone e Borsellino airport in Palermo, you can reach the city center in different ways:
How much is it? The cost of the ticket is 6,80€ for adults and 3,50€ for children between 4 to 12 years (not yet 12). You can buy tickets online.
From the airport to the city, the first train leaves at 5.18 a.m.
From Central Station, the first train in the morning leaves at 4.00 a.m.
The last train of the evening leaves from Central Station at 10.12 p.m.
From the airport, the last train of the day leaves at 00.25 a.m.
When does the train leave?


TRAIN
BUS
You can reach the city center in more or less 50 mins. The bus leaves from the ground floor (arrivals area), once you exit the airport just follow the signs to the right.
When does the bus leave?
The first bus in the morning leaves the airport at 5.05 a.m. (and then every 30 mins)
The first bus in the morning leaves the Central Station at 3.30 a.m.
The last bus in the evening leaves Central station at 9.30 p.m.
The last bus of the day leaves the airport at 1.05 a.m.
How much is it? 10€ return. You can buy tickets at the airport, on the bus or online (recommended option to avoid surcharges and check timetables).


TAXI
This is the last option, if the ones above are not available
Where do they leave from? Ground floor of the airport, (outside arrivals).
How much is it? Standard fare is 50€ to reach the Central Station.

A solution for real daredevils, but practical for getting around the city and the island. A tip:


ZTL
In the city center, a Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL) is active. On the municipality page you can find the map of the ZTL and more practical info. Spoiler: the church where we are getting married is inside the ZTL!
When is the ZTL active?
How much is it? The daily pass costs 5.00€ (€2,50 for hybrid, CNG and LPG) and it allows you unlimited accesses to the ZTL
Monday - Friday from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.
Friday from 11.00 p.m. to 00.00 a.m.
Saturday from 00.00 a.m. to 06.00 a.m. and from 11.00 p.m. to 00.00 a.m.
Sunday from 00.00 a.m. to 06.00 a.m
Where to buy the pass? Online (quite difficult!) and in some kiosks.
I have accidentally entered the LTZ, what do I do? No panic! To avoid penalties, simply activate a day pass by the end of the day.


By Ferry
or those who have time and cannot resist the call of the sea (watch out for mermaids!). Two options:
GENOVA - PALERMO


CIVITAVECCHIA / NAPOLI - PALERMO
How long does it take? More or less 20 hours
Which company operates the service? Mainly Grandi Navi Veloci (link).
How much is it? The cost varies depending on the season and the options chosen, but we start with a price of 70€ for a deck seat.
How long does it take? More or less 14 hours from Civitavecchia and 10 hours from Naples.
How much does it cost? The cost varies depending on the season and the options chosen, but it starts at 50€ for a deck seat and goes up to over 150€ for a cabin.
